Workplace Reform & Job Security

dreamstime_m_20837021.jpg

Nevadans deserve the peace of mind that comes with knowing their jobs are secure. Right now, “at-will” employment leaves too many workers vulnerable to unfair or sudden termination, your job can fire you for whatever reason, for whatever they feel like and that will stop. I will work to end at-will employment and instead will create a fairer system in place where employees cannot be fired without cause. Under my plan, every worker would be entitled to a one-month notice before termination, giving families time to prepare and adjust. I will also fight to ban the use of AI to replace human workers in both the public and private sectors, ensuring that Nevadans, not machines, remain at the heart of our economy.

Strong unions mean strong communities. Nevada’s current “right-to-work” laws weaken workers’ ability to organize and fight for fair wages and benefits. I will work to repeal these laws and protect workers from retaliation when they discuss or join unions. My policies will make unionization simpler, stop companies from engaging in union-busting tactics, and empower employees to have a real voice in their workplaces. I also support exploring shorter workweeks that give Nevadans more time with their families, more rest, and more balance in their lives.

2.)

Creating Community in our Neighborhoods

A strong community is more than just homes and our work, it’s the spaces in between that matter. I believe in investing in “third places” such as parks, libraries, and community centers where people can gather, connect, and build relationships outside of their house or place of work. By strengthening these shared spaces, we strengthen the bonds of community and give every Nevadan a place to belong outside of work and home.

Cost of Living

Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. Nevada’s current system puts too much power in the hands of private institutions while nurses and patients struggle. I will push for greater public healthcare options, more funding for hospitals and clinics, and programs that make it easier for nurses and healthcare professionals to stay in our state. I will also fight to expand access to affordable higher education for healthcare workers, ensuring we train and retain the talent we need to provide quality care to every Nevadan. During at my time at Nevada State, I advocated every single moment of my time for the students in the nursing program. I was able to stand up to university leadership and demand that the institution looked into ways to pay our nursing students that are practicing clinicals, where they would work 12-hour shifts all for no pay. I worked with the Dean of the nursing school to see how we can provide free scrubs to every single nursing student within the program. Within my involvement and advocacy, I was able to pass a bill at Nevada State University that provided free scrubs to every single Speech Language Pathology (SLP) graduate student at the institution in an effort to make higher education as well as the healthcare workforce more accessible and reduce that financial burden on them. I will make sure this level of advocacy will be seen every single moment at the state legislature when I am elected.

Housing is a human right, and too many Nevadans are being priced out of their own communities. I support implementing a rent freeze to stop runaway rent hikes, breaking up corporations that hoard homes, and building more publicly funded, affordable housing. Nevada families should not have to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table, I will fight to ensure housing is affordable and accessible for everyone.

Education is a right, and every Nevadan child deserves the chance to learn in a classroom where they are more than just a number. I will fight to reduce classroom sizes so students get the attention they deserve, provide better resources to both staff and students, and raise teacher wages so we can attract and retain the best educators in our state. Beyond K-12, I will work to make higher education more accessible and affordable, ensuring that every Nevadan has the opportunity to pursue a degree or career training without being crushed by debt.

4.)

Supporting Immigrants

Immigrants are the backbone of Nevada’s economy and culture, and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I will support programs that provide resources and opportunities for immigrant families, work to expand state protections, and keep I.C.E. from terrorizing our neighborhoods and will stop them from taking and scaring innocent men, women, and children. No Nevadan should live in fear of being torn from their family or community.
